KENSEY KENDRICK - WESTERN ART
Western Art
Located in Cedar City, Kensey Kendrick teaches Horsemanship at Southern Utah University. She truly knows horses intimately, and that reflects in her paintings. She is 24 years old and will go far in the world of Western Art.
About Kensey Kendrick:
Kensey grew up in Gilroy, California, where she was surrounded by the beautiful scenery, livestock, and agriculture that contributed to her passion for western art. She was drawing everything she saw as soon as she could pick up a pencil, and began painting at a young age. Her fascination with horses in particular not only showed in her artwork, but quickly became the passion that consumed any free time. Her experience riding in various shows and rodeos allowed her to become immersed in the western community, from which she derives her artistic inspiration. She has consistently worked to develop her skills in drawing, painting, and other mediums throughout her life and has been hired to complete many commissions involving an array of subjects, but has always come back to the western genre.
Kensey moved to Cedar City, Utah in 2020 to pursue her degree in agriculture at Southern Utah University. While studying she worked a few different jobs including penning at the livestock auction, learning to raise cattle, sheep, and hay at the school farm, and is now one of the horsemanship instructors at SUU. She also helps to move cattle on the desert or in the mountains any chance she can, and never tires of seeing the most spectacular places in the world from the back of a horse. She transforms these experiences into authentic depictions of the western life. When she’s not painting, she’s most often in the saddle, enjoying God’s creation and envisioning her next painting.
